Toyota “mission impossible”

As the title implies, this “Mission Impossible” Toyota spot is a parody of a flashy spy movie. In it, Kyle Busch’s pit crew tries to break into a storage facility, in order to test drive the new Toyota Tundra. This premise gave us the opportunity to be a lot more comedic and playful in our sound design than a typical car spot. For instance, there’s a security guard slurping a soda, and the timid whine of his golf cart juxtaposed with the screeching tires of the intruders’ sports car.

The spy elements were designed to sound exactly like a high-production action thriller: the beeps of the explosive devices as they’re activated, the cinematic whooshes as the camera cuts between shots, and the low electric hum of the laser security system. These unique narrative elements make the ending even more satisfying, as the roaring Tundra speeds down the racetrack.
